What is "Dead People Talking"?

Dead People Talking is a podcast platform built for the age of artificial intelligence. The characters that appear in our various shows are deceased icons from history who express opinions on the past, present and the future. We invite you to join us for commentary, criticism, satire and debate that spans a range of topics, including global politics, food, fashion, movies, music, literature, sport, sex and romance, innovation, self-improvement, health and the environment.

Like all content producers, we have a core set of values that are sometimes reflected in our shows. We are pro-democracy, pro free speech, pro civil rights, pro science, and pro-environment. We are opposed to violence and hatred. We believe that art and respectful dialogue matter, because no one has a monopoly on the truth and we can all benefit from listening to different perspectives.

Do you use software powered by Artificial Intelligence to produce your podcasts?

Yes, we leverage AI software to animate our podcast characters. However, the underlying concepts and scripts for each show are created by humans.

Is it ethical to use AI software to produce clones of historical icons?

Our use of AI clones is ethical for the following reasons:

1 – Humans have a long track-record of depicting historical icons in statues, paintings, songs, poems, plays, journalism, books, radio broadcasts, television shows, films, comedy sketches and social media memes. Using AI software to create avatars of historical icons is a logical extension of this phenomenon.

2 – Our website has a disclaimer that indicates all videos are fictional, and we do not use avatars of historical icons to deceive the public. Our podcast avatars exist to present ideas to the public and to encourage thoughtful debate across a range of issues that matter to people.

3 – We do not use avatars of historical icons who are still alive.

4 – We do not depict avatars in situations that are degrading, violent or pornographic.

5 – The dead have no feelings or state of consciousness in this world, so they cannot be offended or angered by our content.

Is it legal to use AI software to produce clones of historical icons?

The answer to this question may vary depending on the legal jurisdiction involved. Since Dead People Talking is an American company, our priority is to comply with American law.

Our use of AI clones is legal in the United States for the following reasons:

1 – We do not use avatars of historical icons who are still alive.

2 – We do not depict avatars in situations that are degrading, violent or pornographic.

3 – Our podcast shows reflect a combination of commentary, criticism, satire and debate. These are protected forms of speech in America.

4 – As of June 2026, post-mortem publicity rights do exist in some American states, but the United States Constitution is the supreme law of the land, and our content is protected speech under the First Amendment.
